Archimedesweg
Beautifully green and nature-inclusive business complex with offices, labs, catering and inner gardens
The owner of the Caransa Group intends to demolish the current buildings at Archimedesweg 15 on the Leiden Bio Science Park and construct a new building. The new construction will comprise three linked five-storey buildings, and an underground car park. The buildings will provide space for offices, laboratories and restaurant facilities. The plan for the new building has been designed by Dam & Partners Architects and Karres & Brands landscape architects.
Location
Sustainability and green
The design encompasses many elements of sustainability and nature-inclusive building. This means building in such a way that it contributes to local biodiversity and nature. The buildings will be set in an oasis of greenery, inspired by the former polder landscape. Interior gardens and the extensive use of glass gives the inside of the building a natural feel. Roof gardens will also be planted. Rainwater will be collected and retained using a sustainable water system. The water will then flow away in a delayed process, which makes it possible to reuse it in the building, for toilets, for instance, or for watering the greenery.
