Johnson & Johnson

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Biotherapeutics expands with new Optima building.
With a new 10,000-square-metre building, Johnson & Johnson is further expanding its site at Leiden Bio Science Park. The development will create additional space for the development and production of new therapies.

Location

Information

The new building and its integration with the existing site will enhance the way people work. The design focuses on improving wellbeing, creating more efficient production and site flows, and encouraging collaboration. The building is due to come into use in summer 2028.

Johnson & Johnson’s new Optima building will be located directly next to the existing buildings on Einsteinweg and connected to them by a footbridge. This will create a single, coherent complex, with additional office space, a spacious, light-filled restaurant and improved logistics facilities.

Future proof

The building will have three storeys and, including its connection to the existing buildings, a total floor area of approximately 10,000 square metres. The design allows for possible future expansion, both upwards and towards the south.

The outdoor space is also being carefully considered. More water and greenery will be added around the building, in line with the sustainability ambitions of Leiden Bio Science Park. The possibility of obtaining LEED sustainability certification for the building is also being explored. Optima is expected to come into use in summer 2028.
